Blog Post Two: The Akomanga Kaihanga Showcase: Team Island Skittles

On Thursday 23rd July from 5pm - 7pm, you and your team presented to an audience of parents, staff and stakeholders your projects.  If you were away for any of it, you need to talk to members of your team to help you with your blogpost - your blogpost could be interview questions and answers of your team about the showcase (see example at the end).

In your SHOWCASE  blog post, you need to include the following:

Questions

Write your blogpost here!

  • Describe the order of events.  Discuss the speeches and waiata at the start of the evening.  How do you think it went?

  • Describe your part in the presentations.  What did you do? What were the order in presentation?  What did your team members do?

  • What was the atmosphere like (to you)?

  • Do you think the audience understood your message? What feedback did you get on your presentation from the audience?

Reflection

  • What did you do well? What did you team do well?

  • What would you want to do differently next time? Why?

  • Overall, how did you feel about the showcase?  What did you learn from the whole process of planning and presenting about yourself?

  • What capabilities did you learn? Explain your answer.

  • What advice would you give to yourself if you could turn back time to before the planning and presentations.

  • If I’m describing the events I would say in one work was perfect because the speech and the waiata at the start of that evening was very good because we make an effort of it and we make our parents proud and they will always support us no matter what is our decision in our life.

  • In my part of our presentation, I did the speech and I also helped my team. The order in our presentation was Mary was presenting the whole team, David was talking about the challenges that we did, then Leanah and Paikea was doing our planning which is behind the scenes, then Mathew was doing the Outcomes and the last one was me so I’m doing the Reflection and the capabilities that we gained.

  • Atmosphere was like to me as I did my best and I’m doing everything to help my parents.

  • I’m sure that the audience likes/loves our presentation. The feedback that we got for our presentation that was from the audience was good and many more (but I can’t remember some of the feedback).

Reflection

  • While we are presenting our group project we did our best even though we are nervous and we work as a team and that’s the team that went well for all of us.

  • For me what I want to do differently next time is having a music club because I know that every child/children have good voices and they can do more better if they try to do the music club.

  • Overall, I feel that I’m happy and proud because we really did our best, we never give up and if I’m given a chance we would like to do is music club next time because we all have good voice that the others don’t know about.

  • The capabilities that I learned were cooperation because as a team we always need to cooperate with a group and work together.

  • If I’m giving myself advice it would be never give up and if I know what I want, I will achieve it and I will be goal oriented. My other advice is that let’s all fight our problems and always think positive because God has blessings that they always give to us.

Blog Post One: Planning and preparing for Akomanga Kaihanga Showcase: Team Island Skittles

From Monday to part of Thursday, we spent the majority of time in EP6 planning for the showcase.  This is important for you to write about so that we can learn from it and hopefully improve the process next time.

In your PLANNING AND PREPARATION blogpost, you need to include the following:

Questions

Write your blogpost here!

All about the poster!

  • What...was the plan for your poster?  Who came up with plan/layout of the poster and why did they come up with that plan?

  • Did the poster plan/layout change over the course of the planning days?  Why and how?

  • Who was in-charge of the different parts of the poster? Why were they in charge of that part?

  • What were the successes in your planning (name at least one)? (things that went well)

  • What were the challenges in your planning (name at least one)? (things that could have been done better)

  • Reflection:  Before it was sent to be printed, were you happy with your contribution to the poster?  Were you happy with the final poster itself?  Explain your answer.

Video planning and table set-up!

  • What...was the plan for your video and/or table set-up?  Who came up with plan/layout and why did they come up with that plan?

  • Who was in-charge of the different parts of the poster? Why were they in charge of that part?

  • Reflection:  Before it was sent to be printed, were you happy with your contribution to the poster?  Were you happy with the final poster itself?  Explain your answer.

  • The plan for our poster is water safety. Water Safety is something that we work together to teach children know how to swim and they can save themselves from drowning. One of our members suggested it and we chose to do water safety because we want children to know how to swim safely and properly so that they can show their skills in a proper way and to be confident.

  • Yes, because this is for children’s safety and we plan it carefully and we’ve decided that we are doing the posters and some other ideas that we do to make everything work. We also share the pamphlets to tell them what plan we are doing for the children and maybe some of the teenagers don't know how to swim so that’s why we are here to teach them and support them.

  • In our team we had different parts for the poster we had Leanah and she is doing organising meetings, Paikea she’s doing note taker, David he’s doing writing survey and then me I’m doing time keeper, then Mathew is doing Spokesperson and the last one was Mary and she’s doing the Scrum Master. We are in charge of that part so that we can work it done earlier and we work as a team and we battle as one.

  • The success in our planning is that we share ideas, we work as a team, we never give up and all of us do the collaboration and cooperation.

  • The challenges in our planning was that we are challenging ourselves and to get to know more better who we really are and that’s the challenge that we did and to also learn how to swim and how to teach children how to swim.

  • Yes, I’m happy with my contribution because we just did our best as we could and we always think positive. Even though it’s hard to do it we need to have inspiration to finish it on time and our inspiration was our family because they give us strength and love.

Video planning and table set-up!

  • Our plan for the video and the table set-up is just simple because we just all put the pictures in the presentation and the table set-up is just colour blue.

  • Yes, I’m very happy because we are already getting there to help some students learn how to swim and we really did our best. Even though it’s hard but we never give up, we fight as a team and we will finish it also as a team.
